What a great dish! So simple and tasty. It took less than 25 minutes!
I read through the recipe and got out the pots and pans I would use.
A. 2 qt pot for Egg noodles. We added the 5 Way Vegetables directly into the Egg noodles during the cooking process to make this a one pot production
B. Cookie Sheet or Sheet Pan. This recipe calls for a baking process. Preheat oven to 400. Aluminum foil your sheet pan to make clean up easier.
C. Pull two bowls, one for the panko and the other for the marinated chicken
D. Lay out and go over your ingredient bags. 1. Marinated Chicken Breast Strips 2. Panko Bread Crumbs 3. Egg Noodles 4. Five Way Vegetables 5. Blue Cheese Sauce
Let’s get the water going for the egg noodles! It always takes the longest. Add 6 cups of water to your 2qt pot to cook the Egg noodles. We always add ½ teaspoon of salt to the water. For Singles, a 1 qt pot with 3 cups of water is plenty. For large and XL, I suggest a 4 qt pot with 3 qts of water, 2 teaspoons of salt.
After the water is set to high, Turn on oven to 400. Place Aluminum foil on the sheet pan. Lightly spray or oil foil to keep chicken from sticking.
Place the Panko into a bowl. Place the marinated Chicken Strips in the second bowl. The chicken has been marinated in some Hot Sauce, Cider vinegar, a small amount of salt and brown sugar. Lightly coat 4-5 strips at a time by placing in panko and flipping with fingers or tongs. Place strips on the foiled sheet pan. There are those out there who may want to sprinkle some additional salt and pepper on their chicken at this stage.
Place chicken in oven, water should be close to boiling. If you want, wait until the water is boiling before placing chicken in the oven, then the food will all be ready close to the same time. Set the timer for 6 minutes to remember to flip the chicken
Add Egg Noodles to boiling water, stir. Cook for 6 minutes, add vegetables and cook until noodles are done, likely another 4 minutes.
Flip the Chicken. Cook for another 6-8 minutes. Panko on Chicken should be lightly browned.
Drain and place noodles/vegetables back into hot pot. Add your own Butter or Olive oil, cover to keep warm. Stir in melted butter. Taste. Do you want to add any salt, pepper, fresh chopped parsley?
Place Buffalo Chicken Strips on plate, add Egg Noodles/vegetables.
Cut the corner off the Bleu Cheese Sauce bag and drizzle over chicken. Yum!
Enjoy!
And Remember…. Get the kids to help set the table. Placemat, Fork, Knife, Folded Napkin, Cup or Glass for their drinks. Teach them: Forks go on the left and knives and spoons go on the right. (To remember: “Fork” has four letters, as does “left”; “knife” and “spoon” both have five letters, as does “right.”) Folded Napkin under the Fork on the left side. A set table sets up a nice protocol for family time. Not always easy to do and it gives kids a chance to share about their day.
NO CELL PHONES...that includes mom and dad!
